Dear coordinator Yesterday I attended a meeting and picked up a few bits of information some of which you may find interesting as may some of your members. If you see a vehicle in suspicious circumstances, make a note of the type and make of vehicle plus the registration which is useful when reporting it ASAP to 101. Noting the registration is always difficult but if nothing else concentrate on the last 3 digits which is more important apparently than the first bit. 101 is an umbrella for all services, police, council and Amey so if there is an issue with lighting, noise, or people hanging around street corners for example 101 will pass the information to the relevant department. When you think it is a priority call 999 for the less urgent it is 101. www.fixmystreet/sheffield is a good place to report highway matters, graffiti or litter on the internet. To try and reduce unwanted phone calls register with telephone preference, although international calls still appear to find their through! Our local police team recently moved out of Crewe Flats to Hammerton Road but in September Hammerton Road is closing and they will be moved again to the back of Broad Lane somewhere near Scotland Street. I am sure they will do their best to continue serving local communities as best they can but they seem to be centralised more and more. Enjoy the tennis, the Tour de France and the rest of the summer. Pat Wilkins Neighbourhood Watch
